Writing poems and songs came early in my life and so did hard lessons. As a boy, my time was spent exploring the woods bordering Virginia and North Carolina. I began writing down my thoughts while sitting at an old kitchen table more than 60 years ago and I still enjoy doing the same thing now.   Life changes you on a daily basis. If you’re a young person or even not so young, I encourage you to write down your thoughts. One day you’ll find that pile of binders that you filled with stories of new or lost loves, tragedies and things that tickled your funny bone. Looking back at those tattered pages I write songs about life. Sometimes I laugh, cry and every now and then find comfort as I enjoy the trip back in time.

“What drives me to write country songs about life, love, and relationships is simple — it’s the stories we all carry. I’ve always believed the best songs come from real moments, the ones that leave a mark on your heart. Whether it’s the sting of heartbreak, the quiet beauty of finding love, or the ups and downs of everyday life, country music gives me a way to share those experiences — not just mine, but the ones we all live through. As the son of a preacher I learned early in life to serve my community. I am inspired by stories told to me by veterans, law enforcement and new and old friends. I share my songs with you because I know somewhere out there someone’s been through the same thing and maybe hearing my song lyrics makes them remember a happy moment in time or feel a little less alone”.   - RDCB
